Traffic has ground to a halt around Switch Island following a blaze breaking out.
A Renault Clio broke down in the inside lane of Switch Island shortly after half 1 this afternoon following an electrical failure which led to a major fire breaking out.
Nobody was injured in the blaze but the Clio was destroyed as it became engulfed in flames.
Two lanes remain closed while emergency services deal with the cleanup operation.
Motorists are advised that delays are highly likely in the area until dinnertime.
