A cafe closure in Southport market is brewing up a storm over rents.
The Mad Hatter Cafe in Southport market is closing down at the beginning of April because rents are skyrocketing.
They have to pay a shocking £68 A DAY for the unit while new businesses are charged just £13.
The backwards deal means more and more stall holders are quitting the dying market.
One former market worker said she remembers the days when the market used to flourish. She told OTS News:
“I used to work in the old market when it was nearly always busy. Now it is nearly empty. The cafe is great, the staff and value of service is excellent. Why is it being rundown, surely a lower rent is better than none.”
