STORM Callum set to hit SOUTHPORT this weekend

25th September 2018

STORM season is well and truly underway in the UK, with two storms in two days battering the country with severe winds. Will storm Callum be next to hit the UK?

Gales reaching up to 100mph and torrential rain struck the UK this week as Storms Ali and Bronagh hit.

Storm Ali was so severe two people died in wind-related incidents.

With debris from trees and structures littering roads, causing crashes and closing high streets Britain’s storm season began with a vengeance.

Could there be yet another storm ready to hit the UK this weekend?

For those reeling from the last of the stormy conditions, the fact that storm Callum is yet to be named may come as a relief.

The Met Office designate names to storms when they pose a significant risk to public safety.

The names are picked from a preselected alphabetical list compiled by the Met Office and Met Eireann.

These named storms then trigger weather warnings, with the names helping those affected to keep alert.

Despite Callum not yet being named, several swirling weather systems could become the third named storm in the next few days.

What is the weather forecast for this weekend?

Yellow weather warnings are in place for Sunday despite no named storm, as high winds are expected.
