Starting today in Hillside – the Cider and Sausage festival.
The Cider Festival will start at the Grasshopper micro pub in Hillside at 6pm on Friday where a selection of around 20 real ciders from around the country will be offered. Ciders offered will include a number of different fruit ciders and perrys including Rhubarb cider, Damson cider and Strawberry cider through a full range of sweet, medium and dry ciders to full blown cloudy scrumpy. Of course, other beverages including soft drinks will be offered for those who don’t drink cider.
Last August The Hillside Cider and Sausage festival was such a success that the sausages ran out very early. The traders hope to have learned by their mistakes and more sausages will be on offer this year.
A full program of entertainment is planned with Geordie Jeff on guitar on Friday and the Southport and Birkdale Ukulele band on Saturday night. It is hoped that the Southport Swords will be able to join in after their visit to the Whitby folk festival.
Other local businesses are joining in the fun with Worldwide Land Rover putting on a display of classic vehicles and Sew Crafty displaying their wares. The new bar Sixty Six Bar Eatery will be offering summer specials on pizzas and pasta dishes.
Entry is free Friday and Saturday and the revelries are planned Friday 25th 6pm – 10:30pm and Saturday 26th 1pm – 10:30pm. Tickets are available for a limited edition connoisseur’s session on Sunday 1pm – 6pm where complimentary cider bar and barbeque is offered (tickets £12).
