Tottenham have been fined £20,000 for their role in a melee in the closing stages of Saturday’s 4-1 win over West Ham.
The hefty fine has everyone with Spurs tickets wondering what the offense was and how it could be so costly.
It all came down late in the game, with West Ham desperately trying to get even on the scoreboard after trailing for long.
Mohammed Kudus’ foul on Micky van de Ven in the 82nd minute sparked a coming-together. The Hammers attacker appeared to kick out at the Spurs defender before then shoving both Van de Ven and Pape Sarr in the face.
Kudus was initially shown a yellow card, but after a VAR review, that was upgraded to a sending-off.
Spurs and West Ham were charged by the FA on Tuesday with failing to “ensure their players didn’t behave in an improper and/or provocative way,” and the north London club has accepted the charge.
“Tottenham Hotspur have been fined £20,000 following their Premier League match against West Ham,” an FA statement read.
“It was alleged that the club failed to ensure their players didn’t behave improperly and provocatively around the 82nd minute.
“Tottenham admitted to this charge and accepted the standard penalty.”
However, the fans with Spurs tickets think that management should’ve challenged the call in terms of reducing the fine and/or asking for better clarity.
But in all fairness to the game, the Spurs management accepts the fine.
West Ham was also charged the same as Spurs, while Kudus has been charged with violent conduct and could see his three-game ban increased.
Radu Dragusin Wants to Stay
The Romanian center-back, who joined Spurs in a £26.7million deal from Genoa last winter amid strong interest from Bayern Munich, has made just one start in the Premier League so far this season.
Dragusin also suffered another unwanted setback last month, following a tough start to life in north London, when he was sent off after just seven minutes in the 3-0 Europa League victory over Qarabag.
A number of Italian sides, including Napoli, are monitoring his situation closely. However, the 22-year-old remains committed to Tottenham and will not seek a mid-season exit, even if he remains out of the side.
Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven remain Ange Postecoglou’s first-choice center-back pairing. However, there is confidence that Dragusin will still receive his fair share of minutes in Europe and respective cup competitions this season.
Sources close to the player indicate the Romania international, who scored for his country in a 3-0 win over Cyprus last weekend, is solely focused on showcasing his best on the pitch as he looks to strengthen his case for a starting berth.
It comes after Dragusin’s agent, Florin Manea, warned at the end of last season that his client would not sit around on the bench forever.
He ordered Postecoglou to consider a change of shape to a three-man defence. Those with Spurs tickets also think it would be best to use Dragusin effectively and hope he will be a good add-on in the long run.
Manea told Radio CRC in May: “The coach said many times he does not want to play with a three-person defense; evidently, he knows best, but Tottenham concedes many goals. Playing with three gives more security.
“I also think Tottenham concedes a lot of goals from set plays, so Dragusin would be very helpful due to his power in the air; he used to get all the headers at Genoa.”
Dragusin’s decision to join Spurs was his own personal choice after he snubbed an offer from German giants Bayern Munich.
Napoli, the reigning Serie A champions, were among his suitors at the time, and their interest has not waned despite a change of manager following Antonio Conte’s appointment.
Despite his Qarabag red card, the former Genoa ace was only suspended for one match, which he served against Hungarian side Ferencvaros.
Richarlison Still Up For Sale
Sources have learned that Tottenham is still planning to accept a big-money Richarlison offer even though he has publicly stated his desire to stay in the Premier League.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, senior correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that there has been long-term interest in the Brazil international from the Saudi Pro League.
Even though a deal for Dominic Solanke doesn’t hinge on Richarlison being sold, it is believed it could still pave the way for the Brazil international’s exit.
The south-coast outfit have agreed a club-record fee with Tottenham for Solanke, which places Richarlison’s future up in the air.
Saudi Arabian clubs are said to be monitoring this situation, and they could feel the time is right to make a bid if Solanke officially joins Tottenham.
A life-changing financial offer could prove difficult for Richarlison to turn down personally, and a move would guarantee him more game time. All with Spurs tickets think the Richarlison experiment is ending. He’s had no impact during his time at Spurs, and with Solanke in, it is time for the fans to move on.
Anyone Can Leave – Postecoglou
Tottenham will reportedly not prevent Timo Werner from leaving in the January transfer window.
After spending the second half of last season at Tottenham, the German international headed back to the north London side this summer for a season-long loan – with an option to buy for around £8.5m (€10.1m, $11m).
Werner contributed two goals and three assists in 14 appearances last term, but this season, he has just one assist in nine matches in all competitions.
The 28-year-old started only two of Spurs’ eight Premier League matches in 2024/25, with manager Ange Postecoglou preferring Dejan Kulusevski, Brennan Johnson, and Son Heung-min on the flanks.
Although the Australian defended Werner from recent criticism, saying he’s “not hopeless” and is a “very good footballer,” German publication Kicker claims Tottenham will let him go in January if an opportunity arises.
The report adds that parent club RB Leipzig would sanction another loan deal or a sale if they could find potential suitors.
Since he transferred to Chelsea to start signing, Werner has faced challenges. He’s yet to find the momentum to get it going.
His loan stint with the Spurs last season was his only purple patch in the last four seasons, and he was also a fan favorite with everyone who had Spurs tickets.
But Werner also understands that he will still be a second choice and will not get adequate game time at the club.
Conflicting Werner reports
Earlier this month, fellow German publication SportBILD stated that Werner would not be leaving in the coming months despite his lack of game time.
Regardless of that, Postecoglou is still backing the former Chelsea player. He compared Werner’s criticism to the flack Johnson and Dominic Solanke took—both of whom have been in good form of late after slow starts to the season.
In early October, the ex-Celtic boss said: “It was 14 days ago those questions were asked of Brennan. It’s where we’re at in this world. We think, ‘he’s missed two chances, so he’s hopeless.’ No, he’s not hopeless. All footballers at this level are very, very good footballers.
