Speed check operation in Southport accident hotspot

Eagle eyed police have set up a speed trap on the Coastal Road, Southport in a bid to snare speeding drivers this morning (Thursday 29 June 2017).

The trap, operating between Weld Road and Marine Drive is in operation to catch drivers who come off the road and speed over the roundabout, a hotbed of recent accidents and an area which is believed to have caused great concern to residents.

So far at least 5 drivers have been pulled over and questioned by officers, while a number of others have been spotted with defects such as brake light issues. The operation will run until late afternoon.
