SPAR Birkdale has been transformed through a significant refurbishment programme which will bring exciting new services to the residents of Birkdale Village from Thursday 15th August 2019.
Celebrating 54 years in the village, SPAR Birkdale has benefited from a full internal refurbishment including a Graham Eyes High Class Butchers counter, Clayton Park Deli, Cheeky Coffee stand, vaping offer and Tango Ice Blast machine. SPAR Birkdale will also offer loose fruit and vegetables in a bid to prevent unnecessary plastic waste reaching the shop floor.
SPAR Birkdale is owned by family business James Hall & Co., which was founded in Southport in 1863 and is run by the fourth and fifth generation of the Hall family.
Julie McAulay, Company Owned Stores Director at James Hall & Co. said: “SPAR Birkdale has sat at the heart of the village for 54 years and we are delighted to announce this significant investment in the future of the store, and one that involves another family business steeped in local history. “Like James Hall & Co., Graham Eyes High Class Butchers were also founded in Southport in 1982, and Graham has built a reputation for delivering quality meat, award winning speciality sausages, and delicious ready meals. In fact, he has recently been voted Lancashire’s Favourite Butcher in a poll hosted by the Lancashire Evening Post.”
“Clayton Park Deli is supplied by James Hall & Co.’s company owned bakery, Clayton Park Bakery, and will offer customers a variety of delicious, made-to-order ciabattas, salads, baguettes and wraps, not forgetting a mouth-watering selection of fresh cream cakes for tea time treats.”
Julie added: “We are thrilled to be able to offer SPAR customers the option of purchasing meat from a local butcher alongside a range of delicious, fresh, food to go options, and freshly ground coffee beans from Cheeky Coffee, alongside a full store offering of fresh food, produce, groceries and beers, wines and spirits.”
