Stone Horizon release new songs

Southport journalist Martin Hovden, who is currently on a break from presenting his Live Sounds show for local musicians on Mighty Southport Radio, writes: Our town is packed with talented musicians of all ages who work really hard (for no money) to create their own individual sound and stage performance.

They deserve recognition so today I happy to put on my Live Sounds hat and review two new songs by Southport alternative rock band Stone Horizon.

Recorded at the excellent Aku Studios (based in Southport), Sweet Memories and Needin’ You showcase the incredible talent of these five lads, who individually have been on our local scene for nearly a decade. And it shows. They deliver a mature rock sound which is packed with musical, vocal and rhythmic diversity which definitely leaves you wanting more.

I’ve had a chance to listen to both songs several times and believe me they do grow on you, especially Needin’ You which has the most commercial sound of the two.

Stone Horizon (pictured) is made up of Tom Buckley (lead vocals); Adam Barnes (guitar, vocals), Ged Teevan (guitar, vocals), Cameron Maerevoet (bass) and drummer Adam Linaker.

You can hear the songs for yourself via the band’s Facebook page or Youtube channel.

I always check a band’s Facebook page and I found this: “Stone Horizon is (soon to be) the greatest rock band ever to grace the world with their presence. We’re five crazy individuals who love creating music. It’s in our souls, in our blood, it’s our life and we love it.”

Good for them – I wish them the very best of luck for the future.
