Southport’s second manager of the season revealed as Steve Burr
OTSNews.co.uk revealed last week that Steve Burr would be appointed as the new Southport FC manager. Its now official and Steve Burr met the Port squad at training this morning, Thursday 8 August 2016.
The highly experienced ex-Kidderminster Harriers and Chester City manager has stepped into the Merseyrail Community Stadium hot seat following the departure of Andy Bishop. This follows after an unsatisfactory start to the season with the Port winning just one Vanarama National League fixture out of their first eight.
Fifty-five year old Burr takes charge immediately with Southport FC’s Board striving for stability.
Chairman Charlie Clapham said “I have known Steve a long time and we are all really looking forward to Steve’s input taking us all forward. Steve offers so much in the way of experience, desire and previous success.”
Burr will be working closely with new Board member Liam Watson and Mark Creighton as the squad is strengthened going forward.
