Southport’s Jack Rodwell has allegedly been offered to Roma, who are contemplating signing a new midfielder on a free transfer.
A number of injuries to key men have restricted Paulo Fonseca’s options, which has led to sporting director Gianluca Petrachi considering short-term additions.
According to Corriere dello Sport, Rodwell has emerged as a surprise candidate to move to Stadio Olimpico in the coming days.
The former Everton and Sunderland man is without a club having last played for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship last season.
However, the report suggests that Iceland international Emil Hallfredsson, who has previously played in Serie A, is ‘the most ready’ to represent Roma in the near future.
The Giallorossi currently sit in sixth position in Italy’s top flight.
