Southport’s Fances McLoughlin celebrates her 100th Birthday

A Southport woman celebrated her 100th birthday on Saturday (31st January 2015) and received a congratulatory card from Her Majesty.

Fances McLoughlin, was born in Churchtown, Southport and is the youngest of 13 children.

She was married at 18 years of age, and happily married for 60 years.

Fances was presented with a bouquet of flowers by her carer Aimee from ‘Assured Care Northwest.

As well as the many presents and cards, Fances was also baked a special birthday cake and celebrated her special day with family and friends at Dobbies, Southport.

Fances said she remembers Churchtown when there was only a couple of shops and three pubs, The Farmers Arms on Manor Road and The Bold and Hesketh Arms.

She also remembers when you had to pay to enter Botanic Gardens.
