Southport’s most famous hotel “The Dukes Folly” relaunches following major refurbishment -The Duke Folly.
One of Southport’s most historic and beautiful hotels is set to re open next week
following a huge renovation thanks to its architect owner!
Agnes Ng, 58, and her team at the Dukes Folly Hotel have finally completed a major refurbishment and revamp of the Duke Street based hotel – famous for being one of the most historically important buildings in the town.
It was originally named after William Sutton who first founded the glorious town of Southport and built an Inn, just yards away from where the current Dukes Folly Hotel stands today.
Having owned the Dukes Folly for the last four years, Agnes Ng said she is delighted to finally officially reopen the hotel on June 8th.
But the huge revamp couldn’t have been possible without the forward thinking and design ideas of Agnes herself – a former Architectural mastermind from Hong Kong.
Having retired to live a different life as a Southport hotelier, Agnes put all her skills to the test for a huge revamp of the Dukes Folly – the majority of which she carried out while the hotel was still open to guests!
The Dukes Folly Boasts a brand new bar, restaurant and even a cosy sauna, the Dukes Folly is now a historical gem for the modern era – there are even specially themed rooms including the premier Castle room with four poster bed and a glorious view of St Paul’s Square.
A new bar area will also prove to be a popular addition to the hotel, with a sun trap conservatory and cozy outdoor seating creating the perfect summer afternoon venue for both guests and visitors.
Agnes said she cannot wait to welcome everyone to her hotel.
She said: “The Dukes Folly has recently undergone the final stage of our amazing renovation and it looks bigger and better than ever before!
“I have a big architectural background and ran a firm in Hong Kong for many years so used my skills to help transform the Dukes Folly.
“It’s all about the detail and knowing exactly what needs to be done.
“I definitely believe my skills helped and we have created something beautiful.
“We managed to keep the hotel open while we carried out the refurbishment but it was a big job!
“We still have everything that made the Dukes Folly into one of the town’s most famous hotels but all our rooms have undergone refurbishment, we’ve installed a brand new modern conservatory and we even have a very cozy sauna room for our guests!
“We want to share our joy with the people of Southport and show off what we have to offer.
“The Dukes Folly is of major historical importance to Southport and when we took on the role of looking after it four years ago, we were determined to make it one of the best hotels in town – and we have!
“Southport is an amazing town and it could easily become one of the best tourism venues on the international stage.
“You just have to look at what the town has to offer. It is an incredible place and with a little more work we could all make it the place to be!
“We are hosting a Grand Reopening on June 8th and are welcoming as many people as possible to come along and share our joy at the Duke Folly!
“There will be canapés and live music in our bar as well as a tour of our brand new look rooms and features!”
