New Spireites signing Delial Brewster admits that he did not expect Chesterfield to come in for him, but once he was informed of the club’s interest it was an easy decision.

Brewster becomes the seventh player to put pen to paper this summer and he’s excited by the move.

Speaking exclusively to iFollow, Delial Brewster said: “It’s a good feeling to be here, I came down this morning and met my agent, and now I’ve signed I can’t wait to get going.

“I didn’t expect a club like Chesterfield to come in for me, but once I found out they were interested I was keen to come here.”

Southport born Delial Brewster joins the club following his release from Premier League giants Everton.

He enjoyed a fruitful spell with the Toffees academy sides picking up a U18 Premier League winners medal in 2014 and then moving on to the U23 side where he featured in last season’s Checkatrade Trophy.

Brewster gained further experience of senior football by enjoying loan spells with two non-league clubs – both of whom he scored for on his debut.

And he feels that those experiences will help him in League Two.

“I’ve been on loan at Stockport a couple of years ago and I did well and enjoyed it and then last season I played for Southport on loan, I did well there and I really that as well,” he said.

“I played in the Checkatrade Trophy against Bolton Wanderers and Blackpool and that was good experience.”

“They’ll benefit me a lot because they got me used to playing with men rather than U23s, so it won’t be a shock to the system, I’ll be able to get involved and do well.

“I’m a centre forward who likes to score goals, but I’m happy to get involved and make runs in behind.”

Delial Brewster will meet his new team mates for the first time when the squad meets for pre-season training on Monday, and more than looking forward to it.

He added: “I can’t wait, it starts on Monday and I’m raring to go!”
