A Southport woman is set to compete against a team of amateur bakers to make a pudding fit for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee in a new BBC show.
Recipes by five amateur bakers have been selected from nearly 5,000 entries across the UK to honour the Queen’s 70 years on the throne in a BBC One programme presented by Kirsty Young.
Copywriter Jemma Melvin is already well known across the town as a creator of delicious and tasty cakes, but her talent will be laid bare to the nation on Thursday night (May 12th)
The Queen’s Jubilee Pudding: 70 Years In The Baking, is on BBC One at 8pm on May 12th 2022.
With a lemon Swiss roll and amaretti trifle her bakes of choice, Jemma said she took royal history as part of her inspiration, choosing lemon to reflect the flavour of the posset served as a dessert at The Queen’s wedding.
Jemma said “I’m very excited to reveal that I am a finalist in the incredible competition to create a
pudding fit for the Queen!
It was a dream come true to meet and cook with these other amazing women, who are now my friends for life! Plus to meet all of the judges who we all admire so much was an absolute honour.”
