Sentencing of Sandra Jones and Michael Miszczak
Merseyside Police welcomes the sentencing of Michael Miszczak, 54 of address Acorn Street Newton le Willows and Sandra Jones, age 52 of Promenade, Southport, who were sentenced to a total of 39 years for sex offences and child cruelty today (Thursday, 23 February) at Liverpool Crown Court.
Michael Miszczak, was sentenced to a total of 25 years plus an extended period of three years on license, after being found guilty of 10 charges, including child rape, indecent assault and child cruelty.
Sandra Jones, was sentenced to a total of 14 years plus a further year on extended license, after being found guilty of four charges including aiding and abetting rape, assault occasioning actual bodily hard and child cruelty.
Detective Chief Inspector Chris Sephton said: “The victims in this case should be commended for their bravery in coming forward and supporting the investigation. They have shown great strength in giving evidence which has resulted in the conviction and lengthy sentence that has been passed today. I hope that their determination serves as inspiration for others.
“The crimes committed by Miszczak and Jones, are some of the most despicable crimes against children we have seen – no-one deserves to be treated this way and while today’s sentence cannot un-do the harm that has been caused, we hope it gives the victims some sense of justice.
“I would like to take this opportunity to reassure anyone who has suffered a sexual offence that if you too can find the courage to come forward and speak to us, we will deal with you sensitively and make sure that reports are properly and thoroughly investigated.”
