Southport woman Rachel Taylor was jailed for 16 months after an “elaborate ploy” to steal £43,086 from 2010 X-Factor runner-up. With the figure including £3,350 transferred to Rachel Taylor by Ms Ferguson to set up a trust fund for her daughter.
Rachel’s husband Raymond was also convicted of fraud when police found a fake application for £32,ooo student grant but he the charges relating to Ms Ferguson were dropped in his case. He was jailed for 5 months.
Ms Ferguson cried as she explained to the court how she was scammed out of this huge amount of money by someone she considered a friend.
