Police have charged a Southport teenager with possessing a knife blade in a public place.
At 5.30pm last night, Wednesday 22nd September, Police received reports a male had been threatened with a hammer on Lord Street in Southport by a group of males.
Officers attended at the scene and a male made off.
Following a foot chase a 15 year-old boy was detained and found to be in possession of a knife. Following a search a hammer was also later recovered.
The 15 year-old has been charged with possession of a knife blade in a public place.
He was remanded into custody to appear at Merseyside youth remand court today, Thursday 23rd September.
Sefton Community policing Inspector Graham Fisher said: “We know how weapons can be used to cause fear and intimidation in our communities. I would urge anyone who has information about people who are carrying or storing weapons to contact us so that we can take positive action.”
