Southport FC are pleased to announce the signing of former Blackburn Rovers and Manchester City youth team goalkeeper Charlie Albinson.
The 22-year-old stopper, who played the second half of the Port’s pre-season win at Widnes last night, puts pen to paper ahead of the new campaign.
Albinson, part of the Blackburn U23 squad which won PL2 Division 2 in 2018, has spent the past two years at Ewood Park, initially signing a 12-month contract which was then extended.
Born in Bolton, Albinson joined Manchester City at the age of eight, progressing through the youth set-up to feature for the club in the Uefa Youth League and the FA Youth Cup squad which reached the final of 2015.
He has experience of first-team football with Rossendale United and Warrington Town, where he spent part of last season, and also spent time at Bury before joining Blackburn.
Welcome to the club, Charlie!
