Southport could be hit by 50 days of rain this summer as the Met Office warn of soggy conditions not seen for nearly 100 years.
The last time it was predicted to be such a wet summer in Southport was 1912.
Forecasters say it’s highly likely the entirety of the UK will be hit by the wettest June, July and August since before World War One.
The government and transport networks have already been placed on high alert for severe disruption.
Although classed as a ‘long range’ forecast, weather experts say the odds of sunny weather outlasting rainy conditions are bleak.
