With Southport set to scorch this weekend, the town is preparing for a swarm of visitors from nearby lockdown cities.
Scores of cars are already causing severe issues at the entrance to Ainsdale Beach.
After Greater Manchester announced a massive lockdown plan late last night, it’s expected that thousands of people will take advantage of the sunny weather in Southport.
Residents from lockdown areas are now temporarily banned from meeting other households indoors but are fully permitted to travel outside of those areas in large groups.
With the mercury rising to make it one of the hottest days of the year so far, bars and pubs will be bracing themselves for a bumper weekend to accommodate the expected high number of visitors to the resort.
Ainsdale and Formby beach are expected to be filled with sun-seekers while the town’s hospitality sector is ready and waiting for the influx of visitors.
It’s expected those affected by the Greater Manchester and East Lancashire lockdown could take full advantage of the more relaxed rules in Southport.
