The rate of new diagnosed cases of Covid-19 in Southport has started to drop this week.
Southport reached a peak of new diagnosed cases on the January 12 (661 new cases) but the latest reported figures for January 19 show 513 new cases reported.
Despite the 22% drop in infection rate, officials are urging caution after over 4,000 new cases were recorded between January 12 to 19.

However ZOE, a healthcare company asking residents to provide health details both with and without covid, believe the true infection rate could be much higher.
Their data suggests that 1148 Southport residents will have contracted the virus in the last 7 days, double the official number of 513 recorded cases.
The news comes as the government reports that over 6,000,000 Brits have now received their first dose of Coronavirus vaccine, with just under 500,000 receiving their second dose.
