Damien Moore MP has today spoken to RBS representatives to seek reassurances that both branches in Southport will remain open.
The news follows the decision by RBS to close a third of their branches in response to what they say is a response to the way ‘customers changing the way they bank’.
On Tuesday, Damien met with Ben Rose, RBS Public Affairs Manager, to discuss the potential closures and sought clarification on behalf of residents.
Southport currently has two branches, one in Birkdale Village and one on Lord Street.
Damien told OTS News:
“As many of my constituents will be aware, RBS have announced that they will close a third of their branches. However, none are set to be closed in Southport for the foreseeable future. This follows a productive meeting I had with RBS representatives on Tuesday.”
“In Southport, we need to keep our branches open and fully operational. Not only do they employ local people, but they also provide critical banking services many in our community rely on.”
“I will continue to fight for Southport on this important issue.”
