Southport residents are being invited to a community picnic later this week.
The Bring and Share Picnic event takes place at Southport Community Centre on Norwood Road between 12 noon and 2pm this Friday, 16th June.
The event is being organised by Sefton CVS, the Brighter Living Partnership and the High Park Project as part of the national Great Get Together celebrations.
These events – inspired by MP Jo Cox who was killed in June last year – aim to bring communities together and celebrate all that unites them.
Families attending the Southport Community Centre event are being encouraged to bring a savoury buffet item along to the picnic to share with their fellow residents.
Following this first course they will then be able to choose from a range of delicious sweets prepared by Brighter Living Partnership staff and volunteers.
Southport Community Centre Manager, Philip Blocksidge , commented: “The Bring and Share Picnic will be a great opportunity for local people of all ages, and from all walks of life. to meet and spend time with other residents.
“It will also enable people to show their support for the Great Get Together initiative by coming together and celebrating all that they have in common with each other.
“We’re hoping for a good turnout – and good weather – for the picnic which will be held in our community garden, but even if it’s raining it will still go ahead within the centre,” added Mr Blocksidge.
