Southport policeman admits possessing 1,500 child porn images
Darren Wright, who was suspended from Merseyside Police, admitted making (downloading), possessing and sharing images of child abuse.
The offences were committed over a two year period ending in June 2017 .
It’s alleged 23 images of the images were “Category A”, the most serious category according to sentencing guidelines involving child rape.
Wright,38, of Chester Road in Southport, accepted downloading 23 Category A, 26 Category B, & 1,368 Category C indecent photo’s of children.
Judge Alan Conrad, QC, adjourned the case but warned Wright that “all sentencing options remain open including immediate custody.”
A shocked fellow Meols Cop school friend told OTS News: “He was always so nice and polite at school and always seemed to have fun. Then again I suppose that’s because he was around other young children. I’m shocked. He was happy go lucky and always being so involved in classes. He was a smart lad.”
