Southport has again been forced to deny social media posts that the resort’s station is closing.
They have hit out at rumours that the site on Albert Road will close down or has been earmarked for closure.
However, despite Inspector Graham Fisher’s public confirmation earlier this year that the building is still being used and is a vital resource for the town, police chiefs have yet again grown frustrated at the amount of rumours circulating.

Inspector Fisher told members of the Southport Area Committee that all options for the long term security of the site are being looked into and, despite a huge chunk of the building no longer being used, they are eager to save it from closure.
This week, however, the constant rumours, were enough to cause officers in the town centre to speak out.
An officer on the force’s twitter account said: “Some people are still saying on social media that Southport Police Station is closed.
“All Southport and Formby Local Policing Team officers start and finish all their shifts at Southport Police Station.
“The Enquiry Office at Southport police station is open Monday to Saturday 8am to 10pm and Sundays 8am – 5pm.”
