A top doc is calling on Southport mums and dads to make use of the NHS 111 online service as an alternative to using NHS’s non-emergency phone service 111.
The online service uses the same ‘algorithms’ that operators of phone line 111 use to recommend the right actions for patients with urgent but non life threatening conditions.
The service was introduced last year but the health service is seeking to promote its use through its ‘ Help Us Help You’ campaign.
Dr Kieran Murphy, Medical Director for NHS England (Cheshire and Merseyside, Lancashire and South Cumbria), said: “NHS 111 online uses the same clinical algorithms as the 111 phone service, taking you through questions about your symptoms and providing tailored advice on what to do next and where to go.
“You can access NHS 111 online on a smartphone, tablet or computer 24-hours a day, seven days a week and if needed you will be connected to a nurse, doctor or other trained medical profes- sional.”
