Southport MP Damien Moore marked the further lifting of lockdown restrictions by visiting Marshside Primary School on Friday 28 May 2021.

The MP was invited to visit the school by new headteacher Mrs Natasha Sandland who started her new appointment during the pandemic.

Mr Moore was given a tour of the school before meeting Mrs Sandland to discuss the challenges the school faced during the pandemic and the schools plans to expand student numbers in the coming years.

Marshside was the first school Damien has been able to visit since February 2021.

Thanking Mrs Sandland for his visit, Damien said: “I would like to thank Mrs Sandland for inviting me to visit Marshside Primary School. I enjoyed speaking to the teachers and pupils and learning more about the schools upcoming projects, including their efforts to build a new learning hub that will benefit both pupils and the wider community.

“The last twelve months have been incredibly difficult period and I would like to put on record my gratitude to Mrs Sandland and all the teachers and support staff at Marshside Primary School for their hard work and resolve during the pandemic. As lockdown restrictions
continue to ease, I am looking forward to visiting many more schools and organisations across the constituency.”

Mrs Sandland, headteacher at Marshside Primary School, said: “I would like to thank Damien Moore MP for visiting Marshside Primary School today.

“It was reassuring to know our MP is actively visiting schools across our town and is willing to have open and honest discussion about teachers’ experiences during the pandemic.”
