Southport MP fights for vulnerable road users in meeting with Minister

MP Damien Moore wants to protect pedestrians, motorcyclists, and other vulnerable road users from personal injury reforms. He met with Rory Stewart, the minister responsible for the new legislation, and argued for them to be removed.

Damien said: ‘I’m worried that vulnerable road users won’t be able to find justice – because it will be harder for them to hire the best legal help.’

Solicitor Ed Fletcher, whose practice specialises in defending vulnerable road users, fears the effect of these reforms on his firm. MPs have already criticised the legislation for not estimating its impact on the legal sector. They insisted that there was ‘no justification’ for including pedestrians and motorcyclists in the Civil Liability Bill.

Damien added: ‘I believe the government is heading in the right direction, but it is wrong that vulnerable road users will face new obstacles to finding justice, so I want to see them taken out of this Bill.’
