Southport man wins £250k on Reds bet

A Southport man has woken this morning to find he’s won a quarter of a million pounds on a football bet.

John Rigby, who works at Smedley Hydro scooped the massive win after betting Liverpool would beat Tottenham in extra time yesterday.

John, a regular gambler, said he won £250,000 on the bet after lumping on two weeks wages on a whim.

He said “the wife would have been furious if it would have lost but she is made up. She made me breakfast in bed this morning to celebrate.

we are going to book a holiday to the Bahamas and spend the rest on a nice house.”

The win was extra special for John, who is a Manchester United fan.

He added “this is the closest I’ll ever be to supporting Liverpool.”
