Southport man charged with drug supply offences following arrest outside ASDA

Community Policing Officers from Southport have arrested and charged a man with drug supply offences following an incident on Friday.

At around 6pm on Friday 1 March, officers at Central 12 Retail Park on Derby Road sighted a man matching the description of a drug dealing suspect, who was riding a pedal cycle. He was stopped due to smelling of cannabis, and detained. Following a search, bags of cannabis and amphetamine were found, and he was arrested and taken to a police station for questioning.

43-year-old Leon Hughes from Forest Road, Southport was charged with possession with intent to supply cannabis, supply of cannabis, and possession of amphetamine. He appeared this morning at Sefton Adult Remand Court and will appear for sentence at Liverpool Crown Court on Monday April 1.
