An amateur phone photographer from Southport has captured the northern lights over the resort.
Craig Bayliff braved icy temperatures at 2am this morning to take a photo of the night sky over Ainsdale sands.
He managed to capture the Northern Lights as they appeared over the coastline, a rare phenomenon not commonly seen in the UK.
Craig caught the image on his Samsung S22 Ultra.
He said he was delighted to get the shot and will return tonight to see the lights again, however he said the bright lights of Blackpool did pose some added challenges.
He recommended standing on a hill near to the Sands Lake to get a good photo.
