A Southport local man aged 48 was arrested on Thursday the 25th February, in connection with a number of attempted thefts from cars in various locations around the Southport area.
He was arrested on suspicion of three counts of vehicle interference, two counts of theft from motor vehicle and one count of theft, where a Ring door bell was stolen.
The man has now been charged with five of these offences, with a sixth offence still awaiting a charge decision.
At court, initially a curfew has been issued while the offender is on bail, which will be electronically monitored and restrict him to his home address between the hours of 7:00PM – 7:00AM.
Drivers are reminded to always double check that they have locked cars and vans at night and always remove any items of value.
Owners of high value/high performance cars are advised to take extra measures to ensure the security of their cars and especially to keep keyless ignition fobs away from doors and windows and in a secure tin or ‘Faraday pouch’.
