A bitter personal attack on Southport MP Damian Moore by Labour’s prospective parliamentary candidate Liz Savage has now rebounded on her.

In a statement issued on Friday https://www.otsnews.co.uk/southport-mp-lambasted-outlandish-claims-shameless-behaviour/ Skelmersdale’s Cllr Savage accused the MP of what she called “shameless behaviour” over the recently announced knife wand initiative, saying that it was actually funded by Sefton Council.

However this has now been revealed to be untrue.

In fact the knife wands have been funded by the local Community Safety Partnership, none of whose funding comes from Sefton Council.  100% of the Partnership’s funding comes from the Merseyside Police Commissioner who each year allocates part of the Police General Grant received from the Home Office to fund the ‘Crime Prevention Fund Strategy’.

“If, as a politician, you are going to launch into personal attacks on others then you really need to have your facts straight first,” commented one concerned Southport resident.  “Otherwise you end up with egg on your face, which is what has certainly happened to Liz Savage here.”
