Executive Medical Director excluded pending investigation
Southport and Ormskirk Hospital NHS Trust today excluded from work the Executive Medical Director.
The exclusion follows an independent review of culture at the Trust led by Prof Surinder Sharma, of Leicester University. The Trust commissioned the review following concerns raised by staff with Care Quality Commission inspectors.
The Executive Medical Director will remain excluded while an independently-led preliminary situational analysis takes place in line with the Trust policy.
Exclusion from work is not a disciplinary sanction but is a neutral action pending the completion of a preliminary situational analysis.
Richard Fraser, Chairman of the Trust, said: “The Trust expects the preliminary situational analysis to be completed promptly while, at the same time, ensuring the best interests of all parties are fairly served.
“I want to assure staff, patients, their families and the public that no aspect of the concerns raised relates to issues of patient care or safety.
“As this is an employment matter, there will be no further comment from the Trust while the preliminary situational analysis takes place.”
The Trust will confirm tomorrow (Tuesday) the interim Executive Medical Director and Responsible Officer arrangements.
