Southport Hockey Weekly Report

21st November 2018
This week saw 3 of the 4 home games hosted at Greenbank High School.

The Ladies 1st XI got off to a slow start going down to an early goal against Garstang, however this managed to kickstart the greens attack who went on to score 6 unanswered goals thanks to H. Markland (4), R. Hughes and R. Utterson. The 1st XI briefly went top of the table Saturday afternoon but currently sit in 2nd place, improvements being made each week.
Following the ladies game, the M1s hosted Fylde. Despite the 1-0 scoreline at HT the game was very one sided in Southport’s favour. The second half produced more goals as the game finished 4-1. A comfortable win to keep Southport at the top of the league now with a 4 point gap between 1st and 2nd place. Goals came from C. Jameson, S. Harris Wright and J. Caton (2).
The Ladies 2nd XI fought out a tough 2-2 draw. Credit to the girls after going 2-0 down and making the comeback with only 10 players. The 2nd XI currently sit 4th in the table.
G. Finegans 2nd XI travelled to Mill Farm for a 4pm push back against Fylde. 2-1 up at HT, the greens really turned on the style in the second half finishing the game 7-1 up. The 2nd XI have now earned themselves a 6 point gap at the top of the league but have played one game extra.
