Southport Hesketh Round Table has enjoyed a record breaking year, donating more money to local charities and good causes than ever before.

Tablers were delighted to present donations worth a total of over £35,000 to recipients ahead of their annual AGM at the Waterfront Southport Hotel.

Organisations which benefited from Southport Hesketh Round Table fundraising throughout the year included: Southport Lifeboat, Vital Sounds Foundation, LK Aerobic Gymnastics, Southport Soup Kitchen, Queenscourt Hospice, Live To Learn, Funky Monkees, YCP Meols Cop Youth Centre and Southport Trinity Girls.

Every year members of the organisation raise money for good causes through events such as the Southport Santa Float, the Southport Mad Dog 10k run, Pudsey Bear visits to schools and businesses on Children In Need Day, and more besides.

Southport Hesketh Round Table Chairman Marc Foreman said: “We’ve had a busy few months and managed to ensure that all charity funds have been donated to very worthy causes.

“The success of the events we put on relies on various communities and charities that we support 100%. Despite the cost of living crisis we have managed to donate over £30,000 this year.

“There are far too many people to thank and support, but myself and our team of Round Table members would like to thank everyone who has donated, supported, volunteered and been there in the past and for the future.”

Southport Hesketh Round Table is a club that meets twice a month socially and organises some of the biggest events of Southport.

The group is looking for new members between the ages of 18-45 years old.

Marc Foreman said: “My year as Chairman has come to an end and Joseph Hitchings’ year has begun.

“But I certainly won’t be stepping away from the club. We need more members and volunteers that can help and provide support for our future events.

“Besides, we don’t just organise events, we are essentially a group of guys all from different backgrounds and careers that need friendship.

“When I moved to Southport I didn’t know anyone, and it took Dan Hubbard to mention to me that he and some fellow Tablers were driving from Southport to five different countries in five days in old second hand clapped-out Robin Reliants to make me change my mind and stop saying no, and start saying yes, to admit that I do need to have friends and have a life.

“It’s so easy to not go out, or not to see anyone, but I was forced out of my comfort zone to meet some new friends and go clay pigeon shooting.

“The rest is history, but since joining I’ve been to three different countries, met some great lifelong friends and will always have Southport and the many charities we support in my heart forever more.”
