Southport fighter robbed of international victory
Last weekend Southport had two professional fighters fighting in Dublin Ireland.
One being Latvian born Roberts Zabitis who currently trains and fights out of Team Elite gyms. Zabitis holding a record of 5-2-1 (W-L-D) after this weekend was put against an local fighter Daniel O’Tool fighting out SBG Dublin.
Zabitis maintained his composure in all 3 rounds, constantly pressuring his opponent on the back foot maintaining the control of the ring. It looked like Zabitis secured himself a dominated first international victory. However, the decision was left in judges hands who unfortunately scored the fight against Zabitis giving Majority Decision to their local fighter. Causing a confusion and upset within the Irish crowd as they did not agree with the outcome of the judges decision. One of these being Irish World Champion Mark Casserly.
Despite this result Zabitis isn’t deterred, this drives him forward and we are eager to see what happens next for this focused, determined young talent.
By what we’ve been informed Zabitis is injury free and back in training for his upcoming bouts.
