Southport Festival returns with more art, music and dance in Southport streets!

Southport Festival returns for it’s third year the 11th to the 13th of May with a line-up packed with music, art, dance and theatre, all headlined by 80’s star Toyah and Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice!

Over three days, Southport town centre will be bursting with art, music and dance with events taking place throughout town centre’s venues, streets and gardens. With many events free there is something for everyone amongst the line-up of demonstrations, have-a-go activities and live performances.

Little ones are set to have a magical time and learn to fall in love with the magic of theatre and art with a wide range of performances and free interactive events. Family highlights will include Wesley Street’s ever popular folktale festival and there will be two full days of stories, performance, crafts and more in the magical Mermaid Gardens. The Viking ship and re-enactors are also set to return to The Atkinson for the weekend.

The festival, now in it’s 3rd year, will also have plenty of opportunity for ‘grown ups’ to unleash their creative side and learn a new skill with free workshops, demonstrations and exhibitions. There will be live dance, theatre and music in Chapel Street all weekend and a superb line up of bands in Town Hall gardens.

Great venues throughout the town centre will also have love bands and singers encompassing folk, jazz and rock. Local choirs, dance schools and orchestras will be participating and performing in various locations.

Funded and resourced by Southport BID and Sefton Council, the festival is directed by Southport Contemporary Arts Council and The Atkinson alongside a team comprising passionate locals from the world of the arts.
