Southport FC U21’s Do The Double!

Southport FC’s U21 team have won their second cup final of the season, lifting the North West U21 Development League Challenge Cup on Thursday evening.

Goals from Dan Singleton and Sam Trayer-Blackhurst secured the victory over West Kirby United to secure a double-winning season.

Port took the lead early on, with Singleton scoring the first goal for Southport in the 13th minute. Paul Jewell picked out Singleton who nodded home to put Southport ahead.

West Kirby United equalised on the stroke of half time, before Trayer-Blackhurst converted from the penalty spot in the 78th minute.

The Challenge Cup Victory was Southport U21’s second cup victory in recent weeks after the team won the Premier Division Cup in late April.

Everyone at the Club would like to congratulate all the players, coaches and staff involved with the U21 team on their incredible cup success this season.
