24-year-old striker Jack Sampson becomes latest addition for Southport FC.
Southport have completed the signing of 24-year-old Striker Jack Sampson on a free transfer. Jack spent the latter part of last season on loan at Chorley from Macclesfield and has been capped for England U19s.
After starting his youth career at Wigan Athletic, Jack lists Bolton Wanderers, Accrington Stanley, Morecambe and Macclesfield amongst his former clubs. He has made 72 Football League appearances and Head of Development Mark Wright is confident the player has a bright future.
Jack scored 6 goals in 7 appearances on loan at Chorley, including a goal 12 minutes into his debut. He was primarily used as a winger at Macclesfield Town.
Mark said: “Jack is a really athletic player. He adds height to the side at 6″2 and we’ll be looking to use that. He’s strong and he will lead the line well, we truly believe he’ll go on to better things.”
On the makeup of the squad, Mark added: “We’re really happy with Jack and we’re pleased with the way the squad is shaping up. We need to make sure we don’t rush to sign the wrong players. We’re very happy with the business we’ve done so far and we’re looking to press on.”
