Southport fell silent today as the town marked 103 years since the guns of World War One stopped.
Thousands of shoppers, store owners and businesses paused for two minutes today across the resort as part of the annual Armistice Day tribute.
It comes ahead of the huge Remembrance Day service planned for Southport Cenotaph on Sunday 14th November where its expected crowds will pack out the area around the monument.
This is the first time since 2019 that the public have been told they can gather together in large numbers to make the occasion.
Members of the armed forces laid wreaths at the foot of the cenotaph this morning and more will be placed as tribute throughout the coming days in honour of those who have given their lives up in conflict.
Damien Moore MP posted a cross in Parliament’s Constituency Garden of Remembrance on behalf of Southport in memoriam.
