Councillor Calls On Sefton Council to Join The Hedgehog Hero Roll of Honour this Hedgehog Awareness Week.
This week is Hedgehog Awareness Week and local Lib Dem Councillor Daniel Lewis has urged Sefton Council to join the British Hedgehog Preservation Society’s Hedgehog Heroes Roll of Honour.
Following years of decline hedgehog populations in urban areas are on the rise again. However, in rural areas increased traffic and more greenbelt development is causing a decline in the hedgehog population.
Councillor Daniel Lewis said:
“Hedgehogs are excellent creatures. I have written to Sefton Council calling on them to display the free stickers for strimmer’s provided by the British Hedgehog Preservations Society so that operators remember to check for hedgehogs before they turn on their strimmer.”
