Southport Conservatives hunting for YOUR vote!

4th April 2019

Southport Tories campaigning hard for your votes on the streets of Southport.

Amber Rudd,  Secretary of State for Work and Pensions, recently paid a visit to Southport to hear people’s concerns concerning the job market in Southport and to suggest ways to improve the prospects of people living here. She then joined the Southport Conservative Association annual dinner as their guest of honour.

Nevertheless, The Town’s MP in supporting Universal Credit has come under fire.

Moreover Sefton’s Tory Chief Terry Jones appears to be rather unhappy with his government

Today, Councillor Jones and his Tory colleagues want to see the creation of a Southport Town Council to ‘take back some control over decisions made affecting Conservative Southport from the Labour-dominated Sefton. Southport Conservatives have stated that they are sick of the town being a cash cow for Bootle.

His political career has had its bumpy moments too. Back in 2016 voters saw total Southport Tory collapse under the leadership of Ainsdale’s terry jones.

The Leader of the crushed group, Cllr Terry Jones, was quoted in the Champion newspaper saying that it was a “disappointing” night for his party. Jones also said: “I will use my political time to continue fighting for Ainsdale and Southport and help (the Conservatives) fight back”. Southport Lib Dems had whitewashed all seven wards up for grabs in the town that night. This is the first time since the local election charter was drawn up in 1858 that any party has won all seven wards in Southport in one night.

Last years Councillor Jones appealed for help to get his message out.

This was the Tory offering in 2014.

Southport Conservatives have recently announced their first four candidates for the local elections in May.

Amongst those standing are Cllr Terry Jones (Ainsdale) and Cllr Harry Bliss (Cambridge), two current councillors seeking re-election. In Ainsdale ward, Councillor Terry Jones who is Leader of the Conservative Group on Sefton Council will be standing for re-election.

Will YOU give them YOUR vote?
