Southport commuters are fuming after jt was announced services between Southport and Wigan will be stopped for five days in November to allow work to take place to rebuild a bridge over the Leeds and Liverpool Canal at Burscough.
No trains will run between Southport and Parbold stations from Saturday, November 16 to Wednesday, November 20, causing chaos and extending journey times by hours as passengers are being forced to take bus replacement services operating during that time.
During the closure, more than 400m of track drainage will also be upgraded at Hoscar Lane station.
Additionally sleepers and sections of rail will be upgraded around Southport station.
