Southport Centre For Deaf Open Day
Southport Centre for the Deaf is based at 19a Stanley Street in its own building. The Centre caters for the social and spiritual needs of severely and profoundly deaf adults. In November 2015 the Centre celebrated 90 years of service to the local deaf community with a dinner at the Old Links Golf Club.
Regular social activities take place at the Centre with themed events and there are occasional outings too. A Computer Club runs every month for those that need help with their smart devices. A signed Church Service is held once a month in the upstairs chapel. Special services are held at particular times of the year, such as Easter and Christmas.
The Centre relies on donations and grants for the upkeep of the building. As one source of income for us, rooms are now available to hire; the Macmillan Cancer Support Singing Group have been hiring the Centre since June 2017.
The Centre is a registered charity and welcomes any help from individuals and groups to continue its charitable work. More information can be found on the website at www.southportcfd.org.uk.
