Wilf’s 105th Birthday
On Monday 22nd June, staff and residents at Parklands Lodge came together to celebrate resident Wilf’s 105th birthday – socially distanced, of course.
The Lodge was transformed with decorations, balloons, cake and friends to make the day as special as possible, especially during these trying times. Wilf was over the moon to receive his beautiful cards & gifts, including a letter from the Her Majesty the Queen. His day was made even more special as he was able to celebrate with family, who joined in the festivities from the other side of the window.
Born in 1915, Wilf was raised in Birkenhead until his house was unfortunately bombed during WWII. After moving to Crossens with his family, where he grew up, Wilf became a Chartered Surveyor and moved across the country. Whilst living in Newcastle, he met the love of his life, Ada, at a local tennis club.
Wilf and Ada got married in Australia and, as keen travellers, the pair explored the Outback together for their honeymoon. Over the years, they travelled to many places around the world and enjoyed camping trips throughout Europe. With photography and motorsports being two of Wilf’s other passions, he visited and photographed the Le Mans races in France on several occasions. However, Wilf still insists that “Scotland is the prettiest place I have ever been… even nicer than the Alps!”
Everybody at Parklands Lodge would like to wish Wilf the happiest of birthday’s and we can’t wait to throw a bigger celebration once the restrictions are lifted.
