‘Soldier’ gang target rich Birkdale suburb

Selworthy Road residents have urged each other to be in the lookout for two men after a spate of suspicious house visits.

Two men, one claiming he was an ex soldier, were seen checking out houses on the expensive street and peering through windows.

One resident angrily confronted one of the men to ask why he was staring through the window only to be given abuse by the ‘ex soldier.’

Later on, they were seen peering through gates and looking for guard dogs and cameras.

One resident who did not want to be named said “At first I heard barking from one of the guard dogs at neighbour’s and when I looked out I saw two men, both in baseball caps and dark clothes walking up and down the street. They were acting very suspiciously and peering through windows to see who was home.

“I get the feeling they were casing the area to come back and carry out some kind of robbery.”
