Smiling Shane brings shame on Southport litter louts

A young Southport boy who can be seen always smiling away as he helps clear and remove any litter and rubbish he finds in the town is being hailed for his efforts.

Shane Bennet, a local schoolboy, has been quietly and continuously collecting and removing litter from parks and gardens across Southport for a number of years without complaint.

Now Shane’s mum Gaynor says, during these turbulent times, it’s great to see Shane finally getting the recognition he deserves.

Shane said “I love wildlife which is why I pick up the rubbish.

“I have a pride in where I live and I’m always happy to clean up.”
