Today Sir Henry Segrave’s Sunbeam Tiger car reenacted his land speed record run along Southport beach Wednesday 16 March 2016 The shoreline was packed with spectators lining up to see the classical car return to the resort, 90 years after the record was set. Sir Henry’s nephew Stephen was also on Ainsdale beach to watch the recreation, and said it was great “to see his uncle’s memory brought back to life.” Segrave raced along Southport beach at 152.3 mph in March 1926 – setting the land speed record.
