Silhouettes add to WW1 multi media commemoration

13th August 2018

Trinity Arts has been awarded 10 Silhouettes for its multi media World War 1 commemoration in November.

Armed Forces Covenant Fund Trust granted the maximum number of Silhouettes for use, as part of its national aim to bring communities together to “remember those who went to war and did not return.”

The Trinity Arts event, which will be hosted by Holy Trinity Church Southport on Remembrance weekend (10-11 November) will also include a gallery of images and stories, live poetry readings with people dressed as WW1 soldiers, two High Schools involvement with video reports, dance and drama, talks from special guests, original artwork, and items from WW1 on display including original cigarette boxes, a cartoon book featuring soldiers, medals and more.

Bob Ball, Secretary of Trinity Arts, said, “Obviously this Remembrance is especially important as it marks 100 years since the end of World War 1 and we wanted to do something special to commemorate that moment. We had men and boys from Holy Trinity go to war, and not return, and so the award of the Silhouettes is really wonderful as this will bring home to people the poignancy of those times.

“We’re also grateful to the Heritage Lottery Fund and to everyone in Sefton who has responded to our appeal for photos and medals – because they have it’s going to be a very special event, featuring stories of people, including those who were prisoners of war, how women helped, and there’s even a mystery or two we can’t solve – but perhaps those who attend can?”
